The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

A new Cemetary Skyline track, complete with an "I don't want ... " chorus has appeared on Google Music for me.

The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

Saw these guys in Melbourne last Sunday and got to meet the band beforehand. Show was great - Michael really does sound great live. They played all of DotL plus The Defiant One and Become Surrender, was hoping for another new song but no success. Michael got a lot of mileage out of jokes about...

I hope that means we get a single or two soon

Cyhra - The Vertigo Trigger - August 2023

Funnily, the vocalist Blood Stain Child had on one album (with the song Freedom?) is the closest I think I've ever heard someone sound to Anders' screaming style

As an aside, that's the second reference so far to "Mother Time" as opposed to Father Time and Mother Nature. Wonder if that's intentional or just Anders mixing it up.

Okay those are the best Anders' cleans I've heard in a long time.

Foregone Pt 1 is my favourite, and I always skip The Great Deceiver. All the others are fairly even between those two.

Five Former Members Of In Flames Unite In The Halo Effect

Dude, the song Days of the Lost might as well be called Embody the Invisible 2.

To just chime in - I think the difference here is what different people consider the defining features of "Old In Flames". To me it had nothing to do with heaviness, and so the new songs being heavier doesn't therefore make them sound anything like the early albums. To me, the defining features...

I can't imagine just buying an album based on a name without reading even the tiniest bit of info about it

I was pretty negative about Foregone Pt. 2 when it first released but it has been growing on me a lot.

It seems strange to me that they are clearly trying to at least partially capture some of their old-school sound, but are so far missing the main big thing that defined that sound which was the harmonised guitar melodies. None of these tracks are carried by a strong, memorable guitar lead in the...

Some further thoughts.. chorus has the same guitar melody as pt1 but it takes a few spins to notice as it's almost completely drowned out by the vocals, and something about the main "heavier" guitar riff makes me think it sounds like it could have come from SOAPF. I'm really bouncing off this...

Yeah this is a weird one. Intro could be cool but is cut off way too short. Seems like they've been saving up the entire auto-tune budget from the previous three singles for this one, and yet the chorus doesn't even rhyme which is a real pet peeve of mine. Having said all that, it's infinitely...

New album Foregone out February 2023

It's guitar driven sure, but I was referring to guitar melodies/leads specifically. CC doesn't really have many. ASOP has little lead guitar melodies spread throughout every song.

CC is probably my least favourite of the modern IF albums. Just feels really generic to me and not like IF. ASOP on the other hand has crappy guitar production and Anders is at his whiniest but the actual composition is very IF - it is the most guitar melody driven album since Clayman.
