Massey is a fucking genius seriously. That interface is brilliant, the way it handles multisamples is so damn simple and so logical, and the histogram displays are so clever. Also love how that stuff is displayed in the samples window and how it updates in real time as you adjust the velocity...

This band is great, love the song! I'm a big Demilich fan so this is killer...

I use Trigger even for programming, with my own cymbal samples. Not hard to build a template to do it in any DAW.

Reaper always records everything from when you hit record to when you stop if you are in Time Selection Auto Punch mode. Just expand the edges of the new part you recorded and you will see all of the audio is there.
