I'm not Chris, but I'm pretty sure he's tuned to standard more often than not. Also, I'm fairly certain the other 2 questions are highly subjective and depends on your playing more than anything.

^It might not be a 'shredder' guitar, but you definitely would be able to shred on a PRS, given how smooth those fuckers play. EDIT: Well, maybe not 'full-on shred', but you get what I mean :P

How do you skip sweep picking and go straight into vacuum cleaner mode? Seriously though, what I wanted to really ask was how do you practice faster sweep picking shapes? The middle strings, to be precise. Also, have you ever heard of this guitar...

Well, if you're not anchoring, maybe trying resting your pinky lightly? Light anchoring can help relax the wrist sometimes, and I know for a fact that Chris is all for techniques that make your hands/fingers more relaxed.

Not Chris here, but are you anchoring with your pinky? If you're anchoring too much, it might lead to some added tension.
