Hello there
I recently picked up a few of the STL Tones AxeFx bundles and through I might make a quick video showing off my favourite one so far, the Brian Hood pack.
All guitar tones are the first preset modelling a 5150. This pack is cool because it contains both unprocessed and processed...
Yes i know, i am pathetic for being so simple minded.....Just kidding :p. The stock cabs on the Axe Fx are very hit or miss so i thought expanding my library wouldn't be a bad idea. Plus i really like the mid-range 1-2K grit that is present in allot of the "Misha" mixes.
I recently picked up this pack because it has djent in the name so I had to buy it.
This is just a quick demo showing off one of the cab models, The ML USA Djent D1, but there are plenty more to choose from in this pack.

You can pick it up here...
Yeah, I think one of the problems with libraries like this (as well as many others) is the fact that they run on Kontakt. I was lucky enough to score a great deal on it a few months back but i can understand not spending that much money. I only ever use 3rd party instruments with Kontakt anyway.
I recently purchased the Fredrik Nordstrom drum library and made a quick demo of the Adrian Erlandsson pack, as well as Cymbal Pack 1.
These sound great right out of the box but i did do a little mixing to fit the mix. Raw sounds can be found the the Fredman Digital website linked below.
I do...
This is where things get interesting. The amount of depth and options with the Axe Fx is ridiculous. But i was never truly happy with the sounds i was getting UNTIL...i started using 3rd party IRs. This really helped me find the tones i was looking for. I purchased the Ownhammer heavy hitters...
i couldn't agree more, i had this issue with my axe fx and ever since using non-stock IRs has really helped me find the sounds i am looking for.
Couldn't have done with with out you :P
First things first...I am going to say this blew me out of the water for how good it sounded for a freeware amp sim. It really nails the bite and crunch of a high gain amp. This thing really shines with the right IRs to get that super aggressive tone.
I have included a link to a mix i whipped up...
Yo guys, i really dig this and just wanted to know if you are alright with some extra effects(filters/Sub drops etc) thrown in to enhance the song/mix? If not then absolutely no proplems :)
Cheers
I really dig this song, plus it has some sweet riffs as well so i thought might do a mix. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.
Gear used:
GetGood Drums- Matt Halpern Set
Esp Horizon into Axe Fx II using the 5150 Blue amp
Ray Sub 4 Bass into Axe
I bought my first bass on a recommendation from a friend and couldn't be happier so i thought i might make a quick mix.
Bass signal chain = Ray 4 > Axe Fx 2 > Logic Pro X. Then a little compression in logic.
Used my LTD Mh1001 for guitars. Getgood Matt Halpern Pack for drums
Track is Breeze by...
Yeah I thought so, so what would be the good number to set velocities? Would it be just whatever the track requires? Coming from SSD 4.0 I would just set everything around 100-115 and adjust for fills/swells etc. Seems like there is a bigger difference is sound with velocities in SD 2.0
I have been a long time user of Steven Slate Drums and have recently purchased Superior Drummer for a change. When i load up a kit and click a part (e.g snare) the sound is at full velocity and sounds great, i am clicking my velocities in at 110-115 but they don't have the same punch/smack as...
I think this is my first time posting(can't remember) anyway would like to hear what you guys think of this!
