I believe this is a base for great results...many people, especially not so experienced artists, don't realize that and they think that there are some special, magic plugins used at mixing or later at mastering stage that will fix source issues... :bah:

I have Komplete Audio 6 and use Reaper - when I go directly to the interface I set gain knob on instrument input to level when I don't get any clipping in Reaper (clean signal path) when I play some things that produce highest peaks - big chords, pinch harmonics etc.. another happy NIKA6 user here. if you experience ground loops, check your cables and connections, don't blame interface itself - cannot do much with it as it's bus powered.

try to update your wifi driver to the latest version. I had the same issue on various USB powered interfaces. Cracks were gone after I updated wifi driver (the workaround I used till then was to disable wifi on my laptop) never had an issue with updating Reaper

when you're not interested in mixing, then you won't go wrong with any expansion pack, stock presets sound decent or better said are OK sounding. real fun begins when you go deeper, route outputs into your DAW and you'll process it like you would real drums.
