    LCR Panning

Are you sure about this one? I love that record but this comes as a surprise to me. ...Well, except on the track "Fundamentally Loathsome", which has that early 1960's vocals on one side, drums on the other thing going on.

    Toontrack Metal month 2014

The MoM pack is fully compatible. Just be sure you have the latest update, which is 2.4 I think. I had some trouble at first until I realized the 2.4 update installer was putting the DLL in some weird folder instead of my VST folder, but it's working fine after I dragged it into the right place.

    Toontrack Metal month 2014

Well, here you go: http://www.toontrack.com/product/metal-machinery-sdx/ It's not up on the main page yet, but you can add it to your cart and all that. As far as I can tell there's no upgrade/crossgrade discount for Metal Machine EZX owners.

Heated pipe in corner of room that needs bass trap

The front wall is basically the least important thing to treat unless you've got rear-ported monitors, or you're stuck with a bad case of SBIR: http://gikacoustics.com/speaker-boundary-interference-response-sbir/

    synth sound like this one

I just looked up some articles and you're right, and the nerds who edit Wikipedia have lied to me for the last time :u-huh: Anyway, I just threw out the first synth that popped in my head that had all the necessary ingredients for a fairly simple strings patch such as this (multiple oscs per...

Heated pipe in corner of room that needs bass trap

Symmetry is pretty vital when it comes to mids and highs. With bass traps, you have a lot more leeway, but I'd be cautious with your traps being so close to your monitors. At that proximity, I would assume you could start running into stereo imaging issues. Futher out, it wouldn't matter. Even...

    synth sound like this one

Arturia's CS-80V. The original Yamaha CS-80 makes the best string sounds (almost all of the non-acoustic sounds on the Bladerunner soundtrack were made with this one massive synth) and is pretty easy to program as far as synths go, at least compared to the painful menu-based stuff from the 80s...

Heated pipe in corner of room that needs bass trap

Stands for the panels is probably the easiest solution; I did this for one corner of my room where wall-mounting the panel would block a closet door. I just roll the panel & stand into the closet when I'm not working on music. As for the distance from the wall, it actually helps with...

Radial X-Amp - output significantly lower when reamping?!

Awesome, thanks everyone; I just had that nagging feeling that some piece of gear wasn't working correctly, and that shit can keep you up at night. I'm a little surprised that the X-Amp has such a significant drop; I guess I assumed "active" meant there'd be extra gain available :bah:

Radial X-Amp - output significantly lower when reamping?!

So I've got my DI tracks recorded; I record at a healthy, not-too-hot level (peaking at -12dB). But my reamps are weak and sad. I did a loopback test to check the reamping levels and found that the signal coming out of my X-Amp 10dB lower than the DI track, and the level knob on the X-Amp is...

    synth sound like this one

Sounds like a pretty basic 'strings ensemble' patch. I don't know nothing about no Joe Satriani or what equipment he might be using, but if I had to guess I'd say it was a preset off of a Korg/Kurzweil/Roland workstation-style keyboard, and it's possibly sample-based but shouldn't be too hard to...

can someone help with treating my room?

Nah, it's just not an "ideal" position and will most likely require a lot more time and work to achieve a neutral-sounding monitoring environment. There are so many variables at work here - room shape, ceiling height, wall material, position of windows & doors, furniture and other stuff in the...

can someone help with treating my room?

You're really going to want to face the short wall - but you don't need to push your desk right up against it either, so the baseboard heater shouldn't be too much of an impediment. In fact, the ideal listening position is about 38% the length of the room, so with (15')(.38), your ideal position...
