    Nile

Definitely a fucking awesome death metal band. Their live show left something to be desired, but so do most death metal bands'.

    Mikael the comedian

Mikael was pretty funny at the Norfolk show: Audience member: "Play some riffs!" Mikael: "...You want a riff?" *plays Smoke on the Water* *crowd laughs* Audience: "Play another song!" (they had been taking a while to tune at this time) Mikael: "Well what should we play?" Me (in a hick...

    Where is Lopez?

Not to raise any alarms, but does anyone know if this situation goes beyond a more substitution (i.e. is Lopez still in the band, but just on a break)?

    SETLIST

Yup. All of the hardcore fans up front went nuts when he said the title right before they went into it. Of course, he said it in his own style: "We haven't played this song live in...well...I don't think we've ever played it live. It's very obscure. Hopefully, you like it. This is off of a...

    SETLIST

The setlist from the Norfolk show (2/16) was something like this (sorry, this is from memory and not from an actual setlist, so it's probably not right on): Ghost of Perdition White Cluster Baying of the Hounds The Amen Corner Under the Weeping Moon Closure Grand Conjuration The Drapery Falls...

    Congratulations Opeth!

The Norfolk show tonight was pretty packed, and it was awesome to hear that many fans cheering for songs from MAYH and Orchid - good stuff.

    All the new Opeth fans

Yeah, the Macho Man impression almost earned me temporary kvlt status.

    All the new Opeth fans

I've been a massive Opeth fan for the past year, though I'd heard of them a few years before that, yet never got into them because the only album we had at FYE was Damnation (which I didn't appreciate at the time, sadly). One of the admins on the Thrice forums sent me Moonlapse Vertigo, and I...

Music as an environment vs music as melody

If you deprave yourself of every sense except for hearing and pop an album in, it's an awesome experience - even with bands that aren't atmospheric or are just straight up brutal (Aborted, Pig Destroyer, etc.). If I pop some headphones on and shut my eyes while listening to "Atonement", I can...

ANDY SNEAPS JOB ON MIXING DELIVERANCE

There's something lacking in the atmosphere, but the production values themselves are great. And chill out, blimey. It's the fucking internet - it's not like someone insulted your mom.

    The Grand Conuration

Unfortunately, it's probably the only Opeth song I'd list as "repetitive" - but I think the guys had the repitition and the traditional verse/chorus/verse/chorus structure in mind since they probably knew that it would be the single. Still a great song, though.

    Mike the New Jesus?

I absolutely love this picture, but the color difference between the face and neck has always bothered me, so here:

    Meeting Opeth at gigs???

Here's me smiling like the giddy fanboy that I am as Mike flashes the horns with me (shutup, I was psyched to meet him):
