    Rate Watershed on 5

Gave it a 4... I'd consider it less than their greatest work (which would be Blackwater Park, which would get a 5 if the sound quality was better), but it is excellent. Lots of brilliant moments on this disc.

    Opeth @ Worcester Palladium

Everything perfectly lined up for me to miss this show. Having to work late, having next to no cash on me, and misplacing my ticket. Glad it was good... sounds like they really had their act together by the vids. Next time!!

    Question for guitarists..

That sums it up nicely, and it's THE challenge to me, really. Guitar is pretty interesting... I've always considered myself a drummer first, a guitarist a very distant second insofar as what comes naturally to me... I really have to work at even the remotest of proficiency at it. I think...

What is the most beautiful, spine-tingling music you have ever heard?

Non Opethian stuff: Cooling, Datura, Black Dove, lots of others by Tori Amos The Tourist and Videotape by Radiohead Rachmaninov's Prelude Op. 23 Horowitz's version of Danse Macabre Horowitz's version of Rakóczy March, No. 15 (un-fucking believable) Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition...

    Only for musicians?

I certainly think many aspects of it would be more appreciated by someone who plays, most definitely. Lots of non-players don't seem to enjoy 'suprises' in music, I think.

    Opeth songs you hate

It's kind of interesting seeing who dislikes what, and why. I actually can't get into either of the first 2 discs because of the production... but that's my hangup, and it's not just with this band...that's just the way it is. Did someone say the 'radio edit' of PH is better? The edited...

Watershed: Are you disapointed with it?

First few listens, I would have said yes. Since then, hell no. It's a great, very mature musical attempt by this band.. it isn't without it's flaws, but it's an extremely good disc.

    most underrated opeth song?

Hessian Peel... or is it too early for that? ;) Older? I'm going to have to go with Dirge for November like many others here. And Wreath.

"The Lotus Eater" is conceptually immaculate; shut the hell up.

Interesting thread. What I find almost humorous about the arguement with the 'Nintendo' break is that, played on high gain guitar, noone would think twice about that particular part. Now, being someone who absolutely loathes the sound of quite a few revered synths (like Hammonds in certain...

    Discussing leaks

This is a pretty interesting thread so far, and refreshingly absent from the normal name calling etc that can go on. There are so many viewpoints to look at this situation with, all with some valid points. We have the arguement that downloading is not theft as it's merely duplication...

    Harlequin Forest

It'd be great to hear live, best track off GR, in my mind. I was psyched as hell that they played Wreath last Sunday.

    Pick My Next Opeth CD

BWP, then Still Life. Then Deliverance. Then the rest. In that order

Anders Nordin / Martin Lopez / Martin "axe" Axenrot?

My initial reaction is to say Lopez hands down, but it really is only fair to wait another few albums to see how the 2 stack up. I've seen Opeth w/ Axe 2x now, and can say that he seems to play just about everything s.l...o....w..er than you'd expect. There is also a bit of attention to...

    Those Special Chills

The intro, and guitar harmonies after the intro of "Dirge for November", up till the growl lyrics start. The first break of "Godheads Lament" The intro to "Moonlapse Vertigo", probably one of the coolest intro pieces in any metal song, ever. "We all left you alone" The rhythm part under the...

    Heir Apparent experience *true story*

Its a decent enough solo. What's being played under it is far more interesting (IMO)
