Well said mate. This is the reason why I like Social Distortion so much. Not the best singer but a unique voice is often a lot more appealing and interesting.

In particular check out a tune called Moviedrome by Life MC, it's a 6 and a half minute rap that is composed almost entirely of movie titles, actors etc.

I'm with you there, although there are select bands that manage to stand out a lot of new stuff is just regurgitated.
