I'm in the same boat - want to upgrage from older desktop to rMBP but holding out till next week to see what comes out (and what it does to current-gen prices!)
The first thing I can think of is print the SD tracks and whatever Fx tracks you can - SD is a hog. Even then.. you have a lot of juice there so I don't know if there's something else going on in the settings or workflow?
Late to the party here but I just wanted to say thanks for the Record Union info. I signed up on Tuesday, and my album was on iTunes this morning. Really impressive with how easy they made it (considering I had no idea before reading this!)
For those interested: Menz - Shakedown
He mixed my band's most recent album and we're happy with it. Lots of space to it.
I don't know how to embed bandcamp files soooo...
Gross Misconduct - Our First Perversion
*edit* Hi from Vancouver, Neil!
Love, Gross Misconduct.
Here's one of my new tunes that is relatively complete, in terms of tracking (sans vocals).
I think the bass and kick need to come up and the leads need to sit better, but I'd like a few other ears on it as well.
Any words/critiques would be appreciated!
Menz - Maelstrom
John Cleese is fantastic and that video is awesome.
I like to go back to the stuff that really resonated with me when I was getting into metal.
Refreshing myself on the stuff that made me pick up a guitar in the first place usually gets me re-fired.
Trying to leave some room in the guitars for the bass to chunt around (I'm predominately a bass player so I'm biased in my writing). Proving to be difficult.
Anyone else got suggestions?
