    The Cure

Yes, they've definately had some annoying hits through the years, "Friday" beeing the worst of them all. I agree this song is repulsive, but The Cure (Jonas seems to be a fan) has also had some great mellow and evocative songs. I'm not a big fan of the band, but I must say that "Disintegration"...

    The Cure

Bringing up an old thread here..... Especially on "Help Me Disappear" (Tonight's Music EP), Jonas really sounds like Smith. Playing the EP to a guy who hadn't heard Katatonia before, he thought he was listening to a Cure song he'd never heard of before.

    Today gig CANCELLED!

Feel sorry for you. This has happened to me twice before (Tool - june 2002 and Within Temptation feb 2003). Know what is like. It really sucks. Hopefully they will return to your town sometime in the future. Let's hope it doesn't affect the rest of tour...

Do most katatonia fans like Opeth?

Eh...well, I don't care much for the stage apperance as long as the music blows me away. Mendez showed his eminent headbanging qualities. Basically nothing from the others. So what. Enough of this. Katatopeth rules!

Do most katatonia fans like Opeth?

Both are awesome bands. I got into Opeth shortly after I started listening to Katatonia, picking up "Still Life". I really liked it, but eventually I found out that Morningrise and My Arms, Your Hearse both was better. Right now I favour Opeth more than Katatonia, much because I recently saw...

    Opeth@InfernoFestival

Many pics from Inferno have now appeared on http://www.nrk.no/magasin/upunkt/musikk/inferno_2003/2699668.html, where 21 of them are Opeth pictures. NRK promised to have the video ready on thursday (tomorrow)!!!! BTW: Daylight Dies will not appear on stage on the scandinavian dates, sadly...

..was my first Opeth live experience, and it was fucking awesome Beeing drunk as hell I remember these songs: Advent, Drapery Falls, Deliverance, A Fair Judgement and finally the greatest song of all...DEMON OF THE FALL! For those of you who saw the streaming or attended the show, please fill...

    October Tide "Into Deep Sleep"

The song is truely great. As is the song "Grey Dawn". Still waiting for the album to appear in my mailbox.... presumably a masterpiece. Since it was published by VIC records, I would say yes. Or try finding it at second hand stores....I've had no luck finding yet.

What other music do you listen to?

    Other music than Katatonia (metal) opeth/my dying bride/saturnus/anathema/paradise lost/after forever/sirenia/tristania/theatre of tragedy/therion/ (rock) tool/seigmen/radiohead/muse/sigur ros/pink floyd/nick cave/a perfect cirle/pearl jam (old stuff)/alice in chains/nirvana I'm sure I forgot...

    Jonas´ fascination with lo-fi...

I'd say mellow and emotional rock music, with an atmospheric feel to it. Maybe not a good a description. I'm sure other words would fit this genre. I concider artists like Will Oldham, Jeff Buckley, Midnight Choir and Sigur Ros(?) lo-fi.

How did you get into Katatonia

Some years back I was a member of the My Dying Bride mailinglist, where people occasionally were discussing Katatonia. From impression I got by them, I had to check out some samples from "Tonight's Decision". I bought the album shortly afterwards. It took me some time really like the band...

viva emptiness compared to the other albums

As stated before, I think the new album is awesome, but can't decide yet where to place them in comparison with the older albums. Beeing a big TOOL fan myself, I agree that there are TOOL influences there. Not particularly noticeable, though. Regarding TOOL's "lengtyness": I got that...
