I have the same soundcard (audiophile 2496) and I like it alot. Very good drivers, stable, great sound quality (to my amateur ears at least), I think it ought to serve you well. As for the Truth's, I don't know. I would guess they're better than the Panasonic Hi-Fi's speakers which I use :D

It probably has something to do with taste as well ;) SE is very versatile, so that would explain it's price; and from what I heard, it does have a different, smoother voicing, which may or may not be to your liking. Savage 120 is supposed to be somewhat similar, only rougher. Man, I'd kill...

It does look funny. if you have a good drummer and a well tuned kit with two kicks, why not... but I've heard some really badly tuned double kicks in my life and it's BLAH while I'm at it.... if you have a garage-band-quality single kick/double pedal setup and no decent mics for the kick...

yup the consensus on the net seems to be just that - an SM57 with more low end... But I still love my SM57 :D make no mistake though the audix is surely a GREAT mic. better than the e609 IMO, the latter being too scooped sounding. cool riff btw, groovy. dunno if it's yours though :)

if you're playing clean or slightly distorted, I agree with you, but if you're going for somehting more extreme, I find that the best gain is the one coming straight from the guitars PUs.. uh... if you get my drift... it's better to have EMGs or something similyrly hot with the volume knob on...

It's not that you're stupid or anything, but in my opinion you may have answered your own question already - if you have resonances, EQ them out. That's what I'd do... I'm not aware of any other approach... oh, and some mids in your sound would do wonders IMO :) too scooped - for my taste at...
