Impressions of this drum sound/mix (real drums)

I will say the snare sounds a little loud for sure. Overall the drums decay to quickly for my taste against the rest of the music. A light touch of room reverb (I think anyway) would really settle the mix into something more refined. It sounds great nonetheless, but i think turning down drums...

    Rate my song/mix

I think the click is fine. Nice balance against the bass guitar on a klipsch pc 2.1 speaker system anyway. I think a lower gain on the rhythm guitars would blend better with the tone of the bass since the rhythm isn't that aggressive. I'm still experimented with a sound like that, so I can't...

Should I get an Apollo Twin to replace my Duet 2?

First, UAD has pretty much stated that it has no intent to support thunderbolt on Windows machine, so this interface is will always be OS X only. My preamble since I don't have a Kemper) -- I have my Twin Solo hooked up to my iMac 2011 with a 1TB SSD in there and its shitty 4 core cpu. I...

    Problem with my DI Signal

Your's does have a much sharper attack, but the DI you didn't do sounds like the strings are really old. I would compare different DIs and pre-eq to create a similar sound. Overall, I don't think its much of an issue if the DI recordings are cleanly done.

The best impulses since s-preshigh... And they're free !

I haven't used your IR yet (still using catharsis mixed with whatever), but I love the products of other peoples hard work. From what I hear, these kick the shit out of Ola's shitty cabs. Thank you.

    IK Plugins Worth Buying

Just curious, but has anyone else used supercharger from native instruments. I sometimes like its saturation over IK's Classic Clipper on snare and toms. Haven't found much use for it beyond those instruments.

    anybody still using POD Farm?

I think the UX2 from line 6 is decent enough, but a pre amp is quite helpful with certain instruments like bass. Pod Studios Amp Sims are decent, but their cab sims are just awful. Same with Amplitube. Cab simulation is were all your tone and character is at. The effects from pod studio are...

    IK Plugins Worth Buying

Their Quad Imagine is great for expanding drum room mics. I leave the OH mic alone in Superior to keep their hit sounds in a definite location, but tweaking room with QI really fills out the separation for a fuller sound. Quad Comp is pretty much Wave's C-4. If you haven't used C-4, it is a...

    Headphones for mixing/tracking/editing

I wouldn't mix with headphones if you can avoid it. Decent studio monitors and good pc speakers, home theater, or car stereo are your best bet from my experience.

Toontrack - Andy Sneap EZmix Pack

I've never been able to get anything great sounding out of my own recordings/mixes with EZMix, but one of my mix practice songs from the forums I did entirely with EZMix. This one I did with Andy Sneap pack and Metal Amps pack combined. Your recordings have to be pretty perfect for them to...

Advice... This is driving me crazy

Quite a few factors come into play with guitar tone. For starters, I agree I hate EQ-ing so I would approach your tone with at least two cab simulations for your rhythm tracks. The thickness of your pick plays a huge part as well does as your pickup for the entire tone. Thicker picks have a...

    My latest work

It really sounds sick, but I get bored of constant mono coevals. Stereo technique used in Chimaira's Power Trip adds a lot the the mix I find just bad ass. Sick song nonetheless.

    Bass / Guitar Balance

Literal spectrum analysis doesn't always show overbearing audible detection. It depends on the medium response. My mixing headphones, mixing monitors, my home theater, my gaming pc speakers, my car stereo don't respond the same. Challenge your mix against some of them if you feel uncertain...

    multiband Compressors on masterbus...

I would only use multi band compressors on busses individually that you know sound overbearing in a mix. If the overbearing sound is consistent, I would look at a different approach EQing certain problem HZ on identified tracks.
