    Over-Production

Anything that sounds less gritty and raw than Darthrone's "Transilvanian Hunger" or Ulver's "Nattes Madrigal" is overproduced. :Smug:  ;)

Pitch shifting guitars big time. Yes or no?

What are your parameters? In Reaper you can choose between a bunch of algorithms. Messing around with modes and formants can be a night-day difference.

    Two questions regarding compression

He is talking about loud and quiet passages. Not syllables.

    Two questions regarding compression

From a thread at Reaper's forum: Originally posted by yep (underlined and edited by me): "Bringing this all back to compression, it is absolutely standard operating procedure to use more than one instance of compression on every track. And compression does NOT automatically mean killing...

Or keep pressing "s" and click, click, click... ;) Although it doesn't work with tab to transient.

    doubt using spdif with PODx3

With the X3 you can have one signal path (one amp) either stereo going to both outputs or mono summed going to one output. (Stereo is only noticeable when using stereo effects after the amp). Or you can have 2 signal paths layered in stereo, or panned to each output. I don't record using the...

    Don't understand Boogex

If the poweramp is captured in the impulse file it is captured at only one level of gain that might add some color to the sound or not, but is static. I don't mean that you are actually "modeling" a power amp, much less a specific power amp, but that the extra gain stage can color the sound in...

    Don't understand Boogex

Boogex is not exactly a convolution plugin. Well, it's not just that. Boogex is a full amp simulation that happens to load cab impulses. Some people use the tone stack and drive options in Boogex to add another gain stage and somehow mimic a power amp stage. And the LPF and HPF are very...

VST Bass guitar that use midi tracks?

Hey Chris! +1 to getting a real bass. Even a pitch-shifted guitar can sound better than most bass vsti. Maybe the sound itself won't be as good as some samplers but the playing certainly will.

VST Bass guitar that use midi tracks?

This is the problem: "Vsti amp simulator". There is no such thing. You want a VSTI (Virtual Studio Technology Instrument). That's a vst plugin that receives midi data and produces sound, as a virtual instrument. And it produces the sound either by reproducing samples, or by some kind of...
