Was listening to this on my lunch break from work earlier today. Felt a little weird sitting in the pub listening to such oppressive tunage while chowing down on a sweet chilli egg salad, but yeah - really cool album.

So, I just randomly picked an album from the OneMetal review queue that I hadn't listened to yet, and ended up clapping my ears what I considered to be a thoroughly awesome blackened death metal band called The Unconscious Mind. Haven't done any research into their background or anything yet...

D'oh - yeah, I did. That's the radio-friendly unit shifter there.

Vildhjarta are pretty great too. I also like Monuments, as they're one of the few djent bands who've come out in recent years who largely eschew clean vocals and ambient progginess in favour of just being really damned heavy;

I actually quite like a fair bit of djent stuff. I do agree that it has become a massively trendy micro-genre, too strictly self-categorised and pigeonholed to generally allow much in the way of development or innovation, however. For a while, I saw a bunch of bands who'd previously hopped...

I had a feeling it was going to be my album of the year around the third time I listened to it. Chuffed I got our Ryan into them as well with my endless Twitter proselytising. :D
