Tanya Huff's vampire books are not smut, or even particularly "romantic." They are vampire books before the genre got overrun with that stuff. "The good old days."

Especially since she largely created vampire-based urban fantasy — and frankly did it better than most. I like how Henry doesn't particularly whine, nor does he act like a "bad boy." And when he does show angst, it's over stuff that is relateable (like how Huff's vampires are by nature...

Oh, cool! Glad they translated this quickly. I haven't read Handling the Undead yet, but Let The Right One In was my favorite novel of the '00's.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but my friend Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's new novel An Embarrassment of Riches came out today. She's best-known for her historical vampire fiction series that started back in 1978. Her work is full of historical detail while being "human" enough to be relatable.

Seemingly nice guy. I haven't delved into his work, though :) And I am glad to see people who associate "urban fantasy" with Gaiman, et al.
