Just wait for the SDX version then. The EZXs are pre-mixed with less samples. Maybe we'll see the Colin Richardson SDX next month.

Sure. A company releases 24 products a certain way, and then changes the way they do things with the 25th. I think people would be a little disappointed with the company. As for cost to make it, I don't think that has changed all that much since the last one. If the studio space was a lot...

Well then. Considering I have my own E-Kit I don't mess with MIDI grooves too often, but still. That's pretty damn low. :hahamiddlefinger: Toontrack.

Do you have a link where it states that? They've always had the MIDI packs sold separately for people that just want those but the full pack comes with the expansions.

Schecter C-1 Passive/String gauges and pickups?

I use 56-13s on my Blackjack C1s, haven't bothered filing the nuts on them. I found the 59N to be a little boomy in the neck and the JB to have that weird mid-spike. Installed a set of Black Winters into one, will probably go with D-Activators in another one, and a Nazgul/Jazz in the third.

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

Why does he have to improve his real life micing skills? That amp is a perfect candidate for running into impulses. OP asked why or why not, and I'm someone that has the *exact* experience that he's looking for. Your answers are based on experience with trying (and failing) to use the amps live...

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

Decapitated and Cannibal Corpse (Crate), Suffocation (Ampeg), Death (Marshall Valvestate), and quite a few others.

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

It looks like he's in the UK, not the USA, and even here a 4x12 cabinet is worth $100. I own Recabinet and X50 (and just about all the rest of the amp sims)... I still use solid state heads because amp sims seem to focus on emulating tube amps and sometimes you just want solid state...

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

Last I checked, free was less than $100. Also the Crate will sound better than the Metal Zone (which has only a few sweet spots that you have to dig for), and give him a solid state clean sound as well as a brutal distortion sound, and probably a few things in between.

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

Not to mention he's paying $120 for a head and cabinet. He can probably sell the cabinet for the same price and use the head as a solid state preamp for free.

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

As someone that has a collection of pretty much all the "metal" solid state amps (off the top of my head a Randall RG, a couple of Marshall Valvestates (8x00 and VS100), an Ibanez TBX150, H&K Warp, Peavey XXL, a few Crates, and a couple more), the Crate will give you *good* tones if you record...

    Crate FW120h for recording/Reamping

Don't bother mic'ing it up. Run the effects loop send into the computer and add a power amp sim and cab sim. (If it doesn't have separate send and return for the effects loop, look for a jack that's labeled "insert". That's a TRS jack for the loop. Get a TRS to dual TS splitter. I *think* the...

    Building a new pc...

Yup, I briefly considered Skylake, saw the prices, and it's almost a "sidegrade" rather than an upgrade from Haswell.

    REAPER 5 dropped today

If you bought 4.0, you're entitled to a free upgrade to 5.0 (all the way up to version 5.99). If you bought 3.0, you got a upgrade to 4.0 but then your license doesn't extend any farther than version 4.99. Yes, you can still use it with a nag screen if your license doesn't cover 5.0

    REAPER 5 dropped today

Yeah, but you got all updates of 3 and 4 for your first $60, right? 3.0 – May 22, 2009 4.0 – August 3, 2011 5.0 – August 12, 2015 Even if you bought 3.0 right before 4.0 came out in 2011, your license was good for at least 4 years. (Still is of course, but moving forward you'd probably...
