I'm from the same town as Trouble (Aurora, IL, also the home of Wayne's World!), but never got to see them. Their first two albums still get pretty regular rotation in my house. It just goes to show that coked-out christians can make some great music!

Crust is noisy hardcore with metal influences. Mostly it's mid-tempo, with growling vocals. My pretentious colleague is pretty much right, it's fairly gloomy and monotonous, which I think was kinda the point.

Amebix, Antisect, Axegrinder, Hellbastard, Misery, Nausea are pretty much the founders of crust. I believe Misery are still around. Other good modern bands include Hellshock, Effigy, Stormcrow, Filth of Mankind, and a bunch more that for some reason I can't think of right now.

Accept were the first metal band I ever saw live, when they opened up for Iron Maiden in the summer of '85. It's only within the last couple years that I started checking out the pre-R&W era stuff, and I'm glad I did! Brilliant band.
