    tuning down to c

Its a little more complicated than that. First you need to adjust your truss rod. The amount of relief (forward bow) your neck should have varies by manufacturer, but in general you should have just enough to avoid buzzing from open to fret 3 on all strings. When adjusting your truss rod, never...

    My First Guitar

Carvin guitars are the best value at the mid - upper range. Neck through, locking tuners, ebony fret board, etc.; plus you can choose whatever combination of tone woods (at a margninal cost) that floats your boat. If you don't know too much about tonewoods, check out this site. I have the DC150...

Jaxx 1/21 show was pretty good

I attended that show along with Lina and Soul4Raziel, and I have to say that Opeth was a bit sloppy. I thought they played most of the songs too fast (even faster than usual playing live speed-up that occurs with all bands). Also Peter couldn't seem to keep his guitar in tune; he had to switch...

What kind of gear do you people use?

guitar - Carvin DC150 amp - Line6 Flextone II w/ pedal board keyboard - Korg X5DR module w/ midi controller Also I have an e-bow when I feel like doing some spacy snake rock.

    Line 6 Variax

As an owner of a Line6 product (Flextone II amp) I have to say they are a very good company that makes good products. The flexibility in tone I get from my amp is mazing. However, I doubt that the subtle nuances of so many vastly different guitars could be modeled accurately. However, I'm sure...

    Explorer, what is the best?

Most of your extreme looking guitars', such as Explorers/Kelly's, BC Rich, V's etc., value ends at their looks. The construction methods, wood quality, pickup quality, usually don't equate to the price you pay. Explorers typically have all mahogany set neck construction. This set up produces...

    Jerry Cantrell

The new album was officially released yesterday, but I was able to pick up a used copy at a local music store last Saturday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, plus it was only $9. I guess someone got a promo copy and didn't want it anymore. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

    I need Many effects

Try and get a used Line6 POD pro. Best distortions I've ever heard plus good reverb, delay, chorus, flange, etc.

    Singel guitar effects

Get a Line6 POD pro, much better value, plus it has all sorts of effects built into it. Its considerably more money ($300) but there isn't a sound out there that you can't get with it.

    Epiphone

Epiphone's can be good, but you need to play a bunch of them to find a good one. Gibson/Epiphone have some of the worst quality control of any guitar maker. If the SG is your cup of tea, might I suggest the carvin dc127 or dc150, both of which you can configure like an SG, using all mahogony...

    Arabic metal music?

I've been waiting for the follow up to El Norra... for years. I guess its hard to produce music when you live in a country with so much strife. They toured recently in Turkey, and supposedly the album is soon to follow (I've heard that one before).

    Arabic metal music?

Other than Orphaned Land, the only Arabic metal band I know is Melechesh, which is sort of like black metal with eastern scales. Its pretty neat, and features Absu's drummer (everyone else in the band is Arabic/Middle Eastern I think).

    Yet another religion related thingy...

Well I'm sure that they don't have the practice that we do. Pretty soon I'll be able to add philosophy and meta-physics to my resume.
