I tend to lean more to the previous album. This new one seems to irritate my ears in the highs and high mid. It's still really good.... i just like the sound of their last album better. (not production.....but the actual sound) To each their own

I'd save and buy an Apogee Ensemble or the RME 800. But if you must fulfill your craving right now....then get the Profire 2626. I have one that I use with my Ensemble and it works really well.

If you charge like I do you have to be very fast and efficient. I just throw the drum set up and take the front head off the kick and the bottom heads off the toms. Then I moon gel the hell out of the toms and snare. Mic up the toms and the kick really close to the head so you get a punchy...

Will you be using the real drum tones in your mix or replacing with replacement from Slate, etc? If you're not going to keep the real drum tones then I'd ditch the D6, MD421's, TLM 103, U87 and just use triggers and / or SM57's. I'd also buy the MP2NV instead of the single channel ME1NV...
