At a very basic level, I understand what mastering does. But apart from a bad master having"clipping", how do you differentiate a good master from a bad one?
And what are your favourite mastered metal albums/mastering houses?
cheers
FYI, I didn't end up using the bleed tracks in my first mix.
I was trying to get superior to sound as big as possible to see what is possible before i start mixing.
This is what my first pass at getting a bigger drum sound sounds like
Original superior sound...
yea thats what is really tempting me....
question is the 200$ that i would spend extra from the pro to the total, what else could i get instead. Saturn and timeless are the only ones i see myself using and that too occassionally
yea thats what i was thinking about vcc vs saturn. I mainly mix rock and metal so I didn't know if I can get a lot of use out of saturn(as opposed to the free saturation plugins). The saturn demo was more electronic music related.
I really like the demos i tried of the pro-q2 and and pro-mb.
Currently i own the VCC and VMR and some free plugins.
I really like the Pro bundle but I'm very intrigued by multi band saturation of saturn, so im tempted to get the total bundle. But for the extra 200$ I can get a nice waves...
I have no idea how they did it but its pretty useful thats for sure....
I was playing around with it yesterday and didnt really find much use for the bleed tracks. Does anyone ever use bleed tracks?
Thanks man, I guess its supposed to help me not gate it out:P
Good to know about condenser vs dynamic, you guys are basically saying what my gut was telling me but i doubted myself:grin:...first time im working with superior so i figured maybe the entire industry uses these many files..I'm...
I was expecting that question - they want me to work with the audio files for some reasons I'd rather not get into, working with audio is fine by me. I'm probably going to use trigger to blend in some samples in either case. It does make life more difficult for me but what the hey.
I do...

The projects ive mixed earlier had perhaps 16...
I'm using a Kemper->Echo Audiofire4->Reaper(on MBP)
I've always used 44.1(24bit). Just wondering if anyone uses something higher(like 48 or 96) and why(Ive read a lot of the arguments but I wanted to hear your own reasons)
I'm also wondering if the kemper can even perform at higher than...
