i havent listend to the files yet, but have an idea about the approach via different listening options, i would set it up the way to compare a) a mix recorded and worked in 44.1/48khz and mixed down to a 16bit, 44.1khz .wav file against b) a mix recorded and worked in 88.2k/96khz and mixed down...

i´m totally with you,that would be the ideal case.. but thats easier said than done. From my personal (frustrating) experience this is not possible or doesnt work out so easily.. unfortunatly :( You may even find out its a pure waste of time because the studio is not up to your quality standards...

you cant go wrong with K&M brand, their quality is great and with good care they probably will last a lifetime i have a couple of K&M that i have bought like 20years ago and used them at countless concerts, rehearsals and now using them at home in my little studio and they still working...
