You should just get a clean level booster such as a Cloutlifter or Fethead. These give you the level needed for an SM7B thru your existing preamps as long as they have phantom power. Either that, or just sell the SM7B and buy something else.

Hey thanks for the response. It's still unclear if there was an issue with the original load box but the seller was kind enough to exchange the unit for a new one and it is definitely working as it should. Cheers!
