I think it's pretty important for the feel of the music to hear the drums while tracking even though they're all aligned exactly to the metronome. The bassist in my band can't play for shit with a metronome - he has to have drums to play with. I know you can play back what you just tracked to...

Thanks for the reply. Did it sound any good at all? Was it even worth it? Can it be used to mask a shite condenser? Would an SM57 mask a cheapo condenser for example (or in that case would they mask each other as neither are ideal for vox!)? Thanks for the help!

I reckon Blood Of The Nations by Accept has an awesome bass tone! Suits the band so well. Sneap knows when to do the right thing I guess. That album called for a proper ball-swelling feel and he got it dead on.
