I've had similar results when using Slate. It's not that you can't get that sound with Slate, it's just that they aren't like that right out of the box. I just got BFD3 and it has the 3d thing in spades. Lately I use a blend of BFD, Slate, and Toontrack. They're all exceptional at different things.

I just got this the other day. It's a little bit strange if you're used to BFD2 in the work flow department. BFD2 took quite a bit of time to figure out the little details in the program and they've switched the locations of some of this stuff around. All in all I'd say it's definitely a step up...
