I've wanted to hear Jotun live for 19 years, more than any other song except perhaps December Flower. If it comes back on this leg of touring and I miss out by accident of geography, it'll be a sore one unless it sticks around long enough for their next pass through Scotland. I absolutely loved...

Yeah, I wondered if length had something to do with it, but they have other short instrumentals that are nowhere close and it's a full 40 places above the next most popular song from TJR (Moonshield) so it's not just like people are listening to the album and that song's getting a lot of repeats...

I stumbled upon this page which lists an artist's songs from most listened to least on Spotify a while ago, and it turns out they have stats for In Flames: https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/57ylwQTnFnIhJh4nu4rxCs_songs.html Some interesting viewing in there, Only for the Weak is out in front...

I appreciate you taking the deep dive on this one even if it's not a trip you particularly enjoyed :tickled: . I've never had particularly strong feelings about Bottled either way, it struck me as a typical STYE song, mostly chugging chord-driven alt metal but no worse than the average track...

It's interesting how different people's perceptions are, for me it's probably a serious contender for the best post-Clayman In Flames song. It grabbed me instantly from the first time I heard it and I've never become bored of it. I think it has a great chunky groove, the best use of low growls...

Guilty as charged. It's one of the best things on YouTube, it really shows how good the Big Four are musically.

The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

I'd been meaning to give my thoughts on the Halo Effect gig I was at last week, but Storm Éowyn decided to deprive me of electricity for three days, so I wasn't able to, and didn't get round to once the power came back. Long story short, it was excellent. Both support acts were enjoyable. I'd...

Got tickets for THE in Glasgow tonight, looking forward to it! Hope it's as good as IF were in October.

The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

I can understand criticism of his clean vocals (and covering for them with autotune and processing), but I sincerely think his harsh vocals are really impressive at the moment, both live and in the studio.

The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

I try not to treat IF and THE like they're in competition. I think the world is richer for having both of them actively recording and touring, and I hope they continue to do so for many years to come, but I understand why their output is compared by those of us who're interested in their legacy...

The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

I'll maybe give fuller thoughts later, but my first impressions are that even its non-standout tracks are enjoyable cuts of authentic Gothenburg melodic death metal, and its highs are up there with the best of the genre. I think Days of the Lost might be a more consistent record, but the best...
