Thoughts on a couple of new releases

Holy shit. Where are you all getting ahold of the new Enslaved? I've been fucking dying to get it.

    Books

The Hyperion series is one of my favourite set of books ever(second only to Dune). If you have Hyperion, make sure you have The Fall of Hyperion handy when you finish it. Dan Simmons really knows how to tell a story.

The "I'm crapping myself in anticipation for these new albums" thread

What's this? Was there news about this somewhere? Cause I think their site's still down.

    books

I think the Dune books are the best series ever. Frank Herbert is the Muad'dib. And if you like those writers you might also like Ursula K. Le Guin (The Left Hand Of Darkness, The Dispossessed) and Roger Zelazny (Lord Of Light, the Amber series). Does anyone here know where I could find the...

    Recommend sf books.

Whoa. I just finished reading Hyperion and The Fall Of Hyperion and they were both incredible. I'm 400 pages or so into Endymion now. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be as good as those first two. It's pretty good, but it seems a bit lame compared to its predecessors. I hope The Rise Of...

    Clothing, fads and trends?

    Spongebob fucking Squarepants paraphernalia.

    Recommend sf books.

Actually I thought the second three books were, overall, stronger than the first three books. Weird. The first book is still my favourite ever though. Herbert's son and some other guy are writing the final book to close out the series, too. So I guess the series will end with that seventh...

    Recommend sf books.

I've just ordered the first book in that series a few days ago. I'm hoping it arrives next week so I can start reading it. I needed something fantastic and epic to help me get over my experience with Asimov's Foundation novels, with which I enjoyed the concept of the story but found just about...

Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt

I noticed that too. I picked up the Rune CD last year after hearing all the praise but I didn't like it all that much at all. Arsis are the only band that seem to have lived up to their hype from the Willowtip label. I guess the rest of the stuff just isn't my style. I ordered Arsis from The...

    Idiots

I love Rush but I suddenly started to take them less seriously when I saw the band pictures from the Grace Under Pressure album. What a terrible, terrible shot. Great album though. One of my favourites from them.

The CoB board has hit a new low

When I saw COB in November during their whole set Alexi had this look on his face that looked like he just needed to be kicked in the ass. Actually every picture I've seen of him I've felt like kicking his ass to the ground and then slopping mud in his hair. Hatebreeder's great though.

    Vehemence - Bad News

I pre-ordered this CD (with the new Orphaned Land) like a month ago so I could get it on the release date but they still haven't fucking arrived yet. Goddamn CDUniverse. I hope they didn't recall it. It could have been the mailman though. He's proven himself on many occasions to be unable to...

Mabool: The Story of the Three Sons of Seven

I love this CD. I burned it off of MP3s a couple of months ago so I could listen to it at work. Finally I decided to pre-order it last month (with the new Vehemence) so I could have it on or near the release date on April 6th. They still haven't fucking arrived yet. CDUniverse can suck a fuck.

    Devin Townsend-Material

I thought I was the only person who ever noticed that Star Trek thing.
