CC is busy with real life, and V5 has been out of the BDM scene for a while. I keep him updated on what's going on, but like me, he's disappointed in the current scene. To clarify, outside of NSE, there's little to no quality left in BDM, at least to me.

Goreality is decent.

Fountainhead is the guitarist that wrote the majority of guitar licks and passages in this album, and you do not mention him once. There is a lot of drama surrounding him and Obscura, as they kicked him out randomly and are not giving him his due.

There's been a huge surge of beatdown / deathcore influenced slam artists that have popped up recently, most of them suck dick. Straight slam is pretty much dead outside of a select few bands. Brutal Death Metal though, it's better than ever before tbh.

I quite like it, but I have a few gripes with it. The production is a bit flat, their vocalist never shuts up (a la Matti Way), and after hearing Blue of GS on a few tracks, I wish he did ALL the vocals, haha.

If you think the genre is dead, you haven't really been paying attention. At least, the OSDM revival scene, the black/death scene, and the Brutal Death Metal (think New Standard Elite, not "slam") scenes have been thriving.

New Ezophagothomia is fucking fantastic. I'd like that Infected The Swarm far more they had a real drummer, that drum sound ruins a lot of it for me.

New Epicardiectomy, Congenital Anomalies, Unfathomable Ruination, Postcoital Ulceration are all out. Veiyadra's album is absolutely fantastic also.

Ok so, new Gorgasm, Cerebral Effusion, Placenta Powerfist, Cephalic Impurity, Syphilic and Gutrot are fucking great. Some more than others (Gorgasm <3), but goddamn.

Guttural Engorgement had some decent ideas hampered by terrible production, shoddy songwriting, and the most monotonous burps imaginable. Every project he has been in since than has just been re-recordings of GE tracks pretty much, and I can't fucking stand that. From everyone I know that has...
