Who Would Make A Good OpnerFor Opeth?

My band would be a good opener: www.myspace.com/thsmetal There are some Opeth influences in our new music, which I think some of you might like. We would love to open for them on a UK tour!

    Martin Axenrot

I've seen Axe three times now, first when he started playing with Opeth, then after he'd been in the band about a year, then the last time was at Wacken. Strangely enough, I didn't think Wacken was his best performance, and I tend to pay a lot of attention to drumming when I'm at a gig. The...

    Opeth@W:O:A-2006

The weird improv bit he/she is referring to was the middle part of Closure. I really like how they go off on one and indulge their prog selves, but I think the audience were more like, :erk: If Opeth play Wacken again I think they should definitely gear themselves up for a heavy set...

    Opeth@W:O:A-2006

I already started a thread on Wacken yesterday, and I believe it was the first. I take it that it has been deleted because of the honest comments I made about Martin's drumming and about the sound being a bit shit at the start of the set. Hey, I was being critical, not saying Axe is sub par or...

*OFFICIAL* did Opeth rip that from ______ thread

That's funny, cos I can hear a Seal reference as well, although not lyrically. If you listen to Still Day Beneath the Sun at 0:55 to 1:21 it totally sounds like Seal's voice! :kickass:

What would you say to Mike?

Sweet, never heard that song by them. Just bought Silence of Another Kind, and I love it. Will have to check that song out, then.

    Wacken metal fest

Fuck yeah, we're going in a van from North England and it's gonna be carnage! Drive to Dover, ferry over, beer, food, drugs bought, drive to Wacken, watch the mighty Atheist/Emperor/Morbid Angel/Opeth/Nevermore etc. Can't fucking wait! We should have a board meet up and get some pictures...

What would you say to Mike?

When me and my mates met him after a gig in Manchester last year, we were talking to him about what music he was listening to and what metal bands he had checked out recently. He said that he liked Mastodon and thought that they were one of the only good newer metal bands around - good taste...

    Request for Wacken

I'm going Wacken this year and have already seen Moonlapse live, so ignore affintyband and play The Moor for me, instead! :p Can't wait for Wacken...who else is going from on here?

    First post (and Opeth cover)

That's a really nice cover. The drums sound almost real and the acoustic is nice and warm, but I would definitely use an electric guitar for the leads, cos they sound a little bit choked. Welcome, dude!

    Opeth has run its course

    Well said, Powers.

Who will be buying the special edition Ghost Reveries? (*5.1 digital sound)

Great post, and for this I am going to have to check out the DTS mixes of those PT albums! Oh, and yeah I think I will be buying the Deluxe GR. It's not that we should have to cos we already have the original, but I'm more than happy to part with some cash for a good 5.1 mix with some bonus...

Vicar Street. Dublin - Thanks Mike!

Whoa, I would love to see the Amen Corner live! Sounds like an amazing night!

    Opeth has run its course

I think what I was trying to get at was as a band tends to get more famous/popular they spend more money on their records and thus have better production. I was just saying that I think there is a possibility that we can interpret this cleaner sound as it not being as good as "back in the day"...

    Opeth has run its course

First of all I would like to say what a good thread this is. This is one of the reasons I come on here (although I don't post that frequently), because you can have a good debate without people getting carried away and bashing the band for no reason. I would like to add my two pence worth to...
