Things you'd like SymX to do...

    1) Considering both bands will probably end up touring at the same time for their new albums, a SymX/Zero Hour tour would not only be plausible, but completely incredible. 2) A live DVD is an absolute must. 3) I've got to agree, SymX scoring a film would be pretty amazing. And just to...

Your favorite vocalist(s) not Russell Allen

Major kudos to the two people who listed Geddy Lee! He has always been one of my favorite vocalists. I think if Rush's later material was more widely known (from Hold Your Fire onwards) he might be more respected and loved. Some of his singing is really quite heart wrenching.

    New Interview!

Indeed! Somehow, though, my gut tells me that eighty minutes of ZH would be pure bliss. I don't think I'd have to buy any other CD for a year. Great invterview, as well. The title of the next album alone has me dying with anticipation.

    Well ain't that a b

Borders is definetly a good place to look. When the special editions were released, the Dayton, OH area Borders was actually stocking the entire Symphony X catalogue. Not sure how many they still keep in stock as I haven't been there in a while.

Vs. threads..yes or no? [the majority voted no]

Great General Winfield Scott! I'm a little surprised at the number of people willing to ban an entire type of subject. I understand the difficulties that come along with 'versus' threads, and I understand that it does mean more work for the moderator, but I think that just comes along with the...

    The Battle? w/russell allen

All I have to say about The Battle is: Long live the Eighties! And perhaps also: (Russel + Lande) x Karlsson = Superfanmagical.

    Pelican?

Librarius Metallicus <http://librariusmetallicus.com/>, which has a forum under 'Resources' on the Ultimatemetal.com forums page, is an excellent resource for finding bands' web sites. Pelican's is <http://www.hydrahead.com/pelican/>.

Which is the best Symphony X longtrack?

Rediscovery has my vote. Even without the rest of V backing it up, it's almost ineffably amazing.

    Stories put to music?

Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast books are still waiting for a really good treatment, and I can't imagine a better combination than Peake and Symphony X. Especially if there were quotations ala King of Terrors. I get chills just thinking about it.

    Singers Poll

About Hansi on D&W: He sounds great. It's a bit different than BG, mainly in that he 'sings' in greater proportion to the 'screaming' relative to a typical BG album. One of the tracks, Wicked Witch, is sung entirely clean, IIRC. His voice sounds better on the low, clean parts in D&W than it...

    Singers Poll

I've got to go with LaBrie as well. He would be trumped only by Allen and the greatest singer of all time, Steve Walsh. And right on Rose, Hansi is superfanmagical! I still get chills listening to The Eldar from NiME.

    Orchestras/Strings

Seeing SymX play V with an orchestra in a live concert would probably give me a heart attack. I don't think mortal beings were meant to witness such great greatness, greatly. At all events, with the other orchestral parts taken up by the orchestra you could just stick Pinella on a real grand...

    Worst Symphony X songs?

I'm a little horrified at some of these songs being listed here, many of them are among my absolute favourites. Lady of the Snow in particular is one of their greatest works. As for myself, I consider SymX to be that once in a lifetime band that actually doesn't write any bad songs, at all, ever...

    Gigantour Setlist Survey

    1) Candlelight Fantasia DWOT was actually the first metal album I ever listened to, so this was naturally the song that broke me in. My tastes have changed a little since then... 2) King of Terrors 3) Rediscovery The fact that the performance of V on Live At The Edge Of Forever stops...

    Blind Guardian

BG started out power metal but they're becoming more and more progressive all the time, especially considering NIME and A Night At The Opera. Not only are the songs on the latter all of decent length and complexity, it also includes their first stand alone epic, And Then There Was Silence...
