    New Skeletonwitch

is it just my speakers or is it horrifically overcompressed and pumping?

    MESHUGGAH 2016 release (Tue Madsen)

lol I like how the only riff in the video is the one Tomas played around with in the studio video 6 months ago. Sounds great though! I wasn't a fan of the guitars on Koloss at all but everything seems much more organic this time around.

Thermionik Amp Modeler Plugin by Kazrog LLC

Shane, you need to slow the Thermionik e-mails down. Been getting at least one per week, and some 2 or 3 days apart. It's not effective advertising if it's alienating people.

    New Gojira

Listen to The Art of Dying and Toxic Garbage Island from The Way of All Flesh. If you don't like those songs then it's just a preference thing. They basically sound like Lamb of God had a fuckbaby with Meshuggah.

    New Gojira

Mix is incredibly good, song is incredibly disappointing.

    Black Metal - mix/master

Vocals need more reverb, but fine other than that. Needless to say it's way more polished than most black metal records.

The Wachowski brothers are now the Wachowski sisters.

    Doubt they'd bang you either.

    Positive Grid's BIAS head

The original eq match video Ryan put out last year or whenever sounded laughably shitty- and not because he did anything wrong. If this is relying on the same process it's an absolute scam.

Courses (dvd, etc) that teach heavy rock/metal song

Most DVDs are for techniques more than songwriting. I'd just buy him a license for GuitarPro and have him download songs from bands he likes to analyze what's going on- it will probably be more instructive/engaging and relevant to him.

    State of metal 2016

The future? I remember listening to BMTH's first album when I was in high school. They hopped on Botch's dick harder than Norma Jean and now they're trying to be My Chemical Romance.

    Fatboy \m/

G1 Productions has a 5150 iii Kemper pack with a Fatboy 2X12- I can't play anything else now. The low end is so controlled and the mids are so smooth. Makes rectifier cabs sound like string cheese through a garbage can.

Guitar Messenger / Per Nilsson Guitar Solo Competition

That sounds like how I wish my leads sounded, in both composition and phrasing. God dammit

Line 6 Helix - pod replacement

Still hearing junk in the 3k-5k range and an abnormal, un-lifelike tightness in the bass and low mids across all the amp models. It sounds closer to the real thing than the HD line, but I still think Line 6 deliberately "cleans up" most of their amp models so the tones are easier to work with...

Orange 1x12 cab test Youtube (surprisingly awesome)

Man, that sounds incredibly good for a 1X12. Super tight and controlled midrange.

Line 6 Helix - pod replacement

Everything I've heard from the Helix has made it sound only marginally better than the HD Pro. It still has that too-tight, scooped, fizzy, tone on everything. If you're shelling out that kind of cash for an amp sim, just get a used Axe FX or something. The HD Pro is many years old now and Line...
