    Plamer PDI-09 The Junction

Anyone ever use a Palmer cab sim/direct box? How do they sound? I'm thinking about picking one up to record my Mark III with since I can't seem to get a good miced tone with my EVM-12L's and this seems to be a pretty convenient alternative.

Evergrey - In Search of Truth

It's probably because they chug on inverted power chords alot (with the fifth in the bass) which makes it sound like it's tuned lower, like in Mark of the Triangle; I thought they where using 7 strings when I first heard it, but it's just an inverted power chord on a 6 string. It sounds a bit...

Evergrey - In Search of Truth

I've read that In Search of Truth was recorded with a Triaxis into a Peavey Classic 50/50 poweramp. Makes sense to me, those leads sound way too good to be a 5150!

Dimarzio evo 7, a good call being an EMG81/85 user?

Go for it, I've heard that the EVO7 comes pretty close to the EMG tone. It is fairly hot, but should be fine with a noise gate.

For those who played Bareknuckles Nailbomb pickup...

I tried an alnico Nailbomb in my RG7621, but sold it and put my D-Sonic 7 back in. The ceramic Nalibomb should be a bit tighter, but my alnico Nailbomb was too loose for me; the D-Sonic is much better in basswood IMO, it's tighter and crisper, while still sounding full. I'm thinking you may...

    basswood + dimarzio tone clips

John Petrucci recorded Images and Words with a basswood Ibanez w/ a Tone Zone and Humbucker From Hell. Pull Me Under is a good example. The Tone Zone is a great match for basswood, but can be a bit loose and has rolled back treble. Sounds especially good boosted IMO. The D-Sonic is another...

    Opinions on EVM-12L speakers

Sorry, don't know how to do all that. I'm a bit of a noob at recording.

    Opinions on EVM-12L speakers

I have 4 EVM-12L speakers in my 80's metal grill Mesa cab and can't decide whether I should replace them or not. I love the fact that they are very clear, full, and balanced sounding, but they can also be a bit sterile sounding with no warmth or "mojo" (ie classic speaker breakup). They...

    ibanez rg370dx + dimarzio d-sonic

Do it, it will be much, much better sounding; ie clearer, cleaner, and tighter. I have one in my RG570 and my RG7621 and like them better than any other pickups I've tried. I also liked the Tone Zone in my RG570, it's a bit fatter, warmer, and looser than the D-Sonic though.
