I cant decide whats worse, the video, the song or the fact that dont seem to be able to play their instruments.

Reaper has a really simple stereo widener plugin that is pretty good.

Generally good mix, I can hear pretty much everything, but I think you could work on the separation in the rhythm section (bass/drums) to give it that kind of rap-core "bouncy" sound. Sounds a bit too guitar driven for this style. I think the overall mix may be its lacking some low end "heft"...

Reaper v4 for all tracking, mixing, loudnessing (not going to use "mastering" for a couple comps, limiter and saturation plug) and Flstudio for all programming and synths. Its still the best for anything like that.

I would pan the low end tracks towards the center, and brighter tracks wider. Human hearing less able to process directionalty the lower the frequency blah blah blah.... Tone wise, good 'vibe' for the era, but would probably suck in a modern mix.

I think a bass would go a long way to un-djenting your tone, but if you are using PODfarm, you could do the dual-amp thing, make the other amp the JCM800 clone and use a bass cab mic'ed with the condenser. Muck around with it until you get something you like. This is how I fixed my tone (its...

On a slightly more constructive note, what I think the key to the sound that Periphery (and Animals as Leaders, Bulb etc) use is "wood". Frequency sweep the snare until you find that woody sound. I usually find in somewhere in the 250 to 500 hertz range, but every sample is different. Then...
