Am i the only one that thinks the mix is actually ok just the way it is? I can hear the drums and the guitar and imo the vocals are the quietest part but that's fine as i'm not a huge fan of the vocals anyway. Also if the drums were quieter that's a good thing so many brutal bands are ruined...

Well it depends on the pedals obviously... ( what sound it makes when pressed, volume etc. ) The best thing for you to do is get the gear and then play around with it for ages

you don't need to know scales to get better dude.... Every song you create play harder faster and make it harder to play while making use of all the strings more.
