    Orange 4x12 miking?

I mic'd an Orange 4x12 in a garage and it sounded awful. So then I built a sort of sound barrier around it, and it still sounded awful. Could've been the garage, but I think alot of it was that damn Orange.

Mic amp recording not sounding good

ROOM ROOM ROOM i once tried re-amping in a garage… yikes. I suggest somewhere with carpet, any hard flooring is going to give off too much room sound for guitars! I'm thinking most likely what you're not happy with is because of the room.

Snare is just a bit too poppy, thoughts?

Yeah it's Slate 5 blended with 17. I was trying to get that "airiness" sturgis does so i had a high shelf boosting the air frequencies but i took that off. I have a clipper I'm playing around with, so we'll see how that goes. Never had much success getting Slate snares to sound fat, don't know...

Snare is just a bit too poppy, thoughts?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dfnyctqzwzwyoct/Prestige%203%3A6.mp3?dl=0 I always have the problem of too much initial snap on the snare, idk if its my compression or what, but i've played with it for hours. In need of some outside ears.

    Bass Guitar Top String Clank

I tracked bass recently with really thick strings and the tone was just not clanky like i was hoping. I've tracked bass again with stock strings tuned way down, and hot damn theres the clank. Try some thinner strings!

How to get feedback with direct in guitars?

Is there some sort of trick here? I've got podfarm, and i've seen people put the guitar up to their monitors to do so. Ideas?

Live Drums, Scooping What and Where

Damn that sounds sexy. A good room would be nice. I tracked this band with a Blue Baby Bottle in a garage about 8 feet from the kit. Ill post the drums once i get them finished in the next couple days or so.

Definitely does  Good to hear that opinion on the room rather than trying to recreate a different room.

Live Drums, Scooping What and Where

People dont tend to post about real drums much here, at least not for the questions im asking. Im wondering if anyone scoops room mics? I always try to get my drums to sound as close to slate drums as i can, they are so polished. And when people scoop, what frequencies do they aim for and do...
