There is some awfully good Americana, folk, and bluegrass music out there that people are missing out on because people label it as "country" and roundly dismiss the lot of it.

Big Nevermore fan, but yeah, the most recent album was pretty mediocre. Loomis wasn't as prominently featured it seemed, which is inexplicable. I enjoy Dane and all, but Loomis makes the band. His solo album is also well worth picking up.

That's the argument, of course.... but all it takes is one time for them to get you if they can. You don't need to give away 3000 copies.

I'm more than willing to lay down a few bucks for a quality album. However, I agree with the special circumstances, ie unreleased material with no expected release, or an album being out of print for years so that you have to dump half your paycheck to come up with a copy that's probably used...

I'm with you. I was excited the guitarist was back and was banking on a return to form, but listened to some samples before the album was released and decided against rushing into a purchase. Don't know that I'll pick it up at all now. Too many higher priorities.

The biggest problem with the Deftones is the crap bands they tour with. But their music is pretty good. They get lumped in with nu metal, but I consider them more alternative metal because it makes me feel better about liking them :cool:
