^ The best since they kicked Christian out of the band, and perhaps their best to date. The guitar playing is simply stellar on this one and the song writing has really improved compared to their last few albums.

I've found out about some of my favorite bands/artists here, so that'd be my vote.

The Ocean - Pelagial A few great albums this year, most of which are already named here but nothing comes close to Pelagial in my book. It's a masterpiece.

I enjoy Ayreon's first and second album, and I think the third (Electric Castle) actually is pretty great. Everything after that is not worth my time. I'll be checking out the new album solely because of Tommy Karevik.

Saw them once in 2011 when they still were playing some of their old songs. It was an amazing experience, and when they came back for The Odyssey it was over the top. I've yet to see a band with half the talent these guys have.

Probably Metallica. The first metal band I've heard that made me like metal ? I'd say In Flames.
