have you tryed referenciing your tracks against Peripherys? shove one of their tracks in your DAW (Send to a differant OUT if your mixing through compressors and what not) and keep switchin between, focusing on only one element at a time etc. guitar, kick and bass cut off points and the levels...

the sansamp plugin is awsome! tryed it out yesterday on some plucked bass, really gave the upper mids the bite and grit i wanted.

paint over that X with white paint or tipex on both sides, how many times do u drop your pick and u cant see it anywere? the X helps alot expecialy when its dark i always have a Guinness or 2 before i go on, helps alot :D

not quite, 57 has more clarity, the higher mids are more responsive, and less of a proximity effect, which is why people prefer to close mic instruments with a 57. and the pop shield on the 58 is shite! i ended up having to use a 58 for a lot of voice over work recently as our vocal booth...

i have the post on my 5150II set around 4-5 but this is mainly because of my neighbors, i'd like to be recording louder, as it just sounds so much tighter. and i hate that top end from 1-3ish

effects like delay etc, i normally leave until afterwords just as its easier to get right when you have all the time in the world to set it in your DAW. were as phasers etc can all sound totally different, so in this case i'd go by what ever sounds best

well what your doing there is using parallel compression on the guitars, you can also use this on your drums to make them sound thicker and more in your face. you can use these 'sends' for any type of effect, and i normally load up my most commonly used effects into one of these ''FX Busses'...
