Quick little tips on sounding like August Burns Red...

It's on a dvd that came with the pre-order of messengers. it's like a studio blog type thing. and Matt says something like, "a lot of drums these days just sound completely computerized and stuff like that, but I didn't want that. So, none of the drums are beat corrected at all. When people...

This is what i'm talking about. you can't really call a genre awful. it's a preference. Some people like the genres that you think are stupid, believe it or not. :p So stop talking about how gay the music is.. just leave it alone and choose not to like it.... It's kinda like the people...

Everything here is so frustrating... how can you deny how powerful a breakdown is?! Go see ABR live, and tell me 90% of the breakdowns don't make you want to punt cats and rip babies apart.

wave your hand in the air if you just don't care about breakdowns

also.... one quick rant. i see people on this forum hating so bad on the "scenecore" bands... take Attack Attack for example. Sure, none of us like the writing, some of us don't like the production.. (i love it.. perfection ftw), none of us like how "gay" they look... but there's a ton of kids...

wave your hand in the air if you just don't care about breakdowns

August Burns Red's Messengers was one huge breakdown... and it's my favorite cd of all time. Also, August Burns Red is huge right now, if you couldn't tell. You gotta understand why breakdowns exist... breakdowns are made for a live performance because of their insane dynamics. they're...

man, the cymbals are the best part of this cd! doesn't sound like a drum module to me... sounds like sex. XD also, they didn't beat correct the drums at all. so if you're saying it's played too perfectly, i think the drummer would take that as a compliment.

First mix ever... need lots of feedback pleeease!!!

dang, everyone on the studio central forum is busting my balls for scooping the mids way too much... so maybe i'll just keep it and stick with the happy medium?? (which was the plan in the first place.. heh)

    Opinions on the mix?

well definitely not as bad as i've heard before, but it would take me awhile to go through each and every thing i would suggest. shedding some light on how you recorded everything would help.

who doesn't want their cd to sound like messengers?? haha but yeah, very tight editing... experiment with layering/panning screams. the final mix is very hi-fi.. boost the highs. also, the kick takes up most of the sub-hz. there's not much bass guitar in the really low area. andddd, it is...

First mix ever... need lots of feedback pleeease!!!

yeah after listening again i agree about the bass. crap, my bad. the vox are compressed to china and back and have some eq on them. i just meant there's no reverb, delay, anything like that i guess. haha sorry. i actually have a 57.. tried it and didn't like it to be honest. also, i tried...

guitars sound pretty nice. everything else... i don't really know where to start. :/

Ep test mix needs feedback! (Slate Drums, Podfarm, Sturgis, BFD2)

also, i think the whole mix could use a presence boost.. like 8khz and up.
