    Overheads very high frequencies

Less is more with overheads. Gently sculpt them, don't murder them with EQ or multiband compression, etc.

Mixing a drummer that hits like the Hulk

This. The mentality of killing all low end information in the overheads or rooms of a drum kit has gotten a bit out of hand these days.

What to charge for a song...

That's an excellent article, and it's how I've gone about pricing over the last few years.

Whats wrong with my low end.

Guitars and bass are enough out of tune to make it weird. The kick is weird, and the bass tone doesn't really fit the track. Everything except for the guitars sounds/feels far away.

Adding Width and Depth to your Productions

For me, a lot of that comes down to the arrangement of the song, and if time/budget allows, should be worked out as much as possible during preproduction (if you're producing the record). On the other hand, if hired to just mix, I'd be wary about adding any instrumentation unless discussed with...

CUBASE PREMIXED TEMPLATE - Progressive / Metalcore style

Mix templates, beyond simple routing and setup, are basically useless in my experience. A decade in, and I still set up every mix session nearly from scratch. And yea, the list of plugins just screams "Buy my mix template to use with your pirated software!"

    Michael "Elvis" Baskette snare sound

There are some kick and snare/snare room samples that he and his engineer Jef lean on that have been passed around. One is called "CLA Kick" and one is called "TLA Snare." I was handed these samples by a reputable engineer I worked with, and they work in damn near every mix. Before Jef started...

    Recording Your Sessions To Dropbox

I've been doing this for a while, and haven't had any issues. It's actually come in rather handy when I feel like getting some work done at home. I actually started this a few years back when my band was in the process of writing a new record. It made collaboration incredibly easy.

Combining several amps for rhythm guitar tone...

To easily check phase between multiple mics, heads and cabs, re-amp a trigger hit through the setup. It will give you a very clear transient to go off of to visually check the phase. Of course, being 100% perfectly in-phase may not be right for the guitar tone, as odd as that may sound. I...

how would you pan a trio?

Use the drums and vocal reverb/delays for width, keep the low end in the center. Guitar up the middle, any overdubs (if applicable) panned a bit to the side. A hint (and I really mean only a touch) of plate verb or room convolution on a center-panned main guitar can give you a sense of wideness...

They're separate downloads in your Avid account under "additional value added content."

All Slate Digital Plugins Free for 6 months!

I've been using DRT in combination with Trigger for the last few years. DRT does take some work to get the MIDI sample-accurate. I find myself going through every single trigger point, which is time consuming but worth it in the end.

All Slate Digital Plugins Free for 6 months!

Trigger went from stable to completely useless for me over the last two weeks. I've had zero issues up to this point, and now it's crashing ProTools, completely inaccurate, and when it doesn't crash, it won't spit out audio. At all. No updates to my system at the time this started happening, and...

I'm tired of the micing problem (Examples)

The first clip with the Mesa cab sounds fine, but yea, the Krank stuff sounds hollow and lifeless.
