I recorded my Taylor 810 for awhile with a Sure SM57, and it sounded fine after a little tweaking. I'd usually place the mic on the 12th fret or bridge. (The most common mic placements for recording an acoustic guitar.) The majority of the tone though is in the instrument and the musician.

I'm having problems getting any sound out of it. I have the right driver, and set the right (or what I think are the right) outputs in the VST connections window. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Please help! It's so aggravating.

Preferably one that owns a pair of nice monitors. I'm mixing on headphones, (Sennheiser HD 280s.) and can't tell if this mix is too bass heavy or not. It sounds beefy from my end, but it's hard to tell. http://soundcloud.com/jtstew/dispose-master4

Ah ok, I'm not very familiar with extended range guitars. But theoretically, couldn't you tune the Top 6 strings to B standard, the 7th to relate to that, and intonate it for that tuning? But you should be able to get it playing properly. I had my Fender strat tuned to drop F for 6...

Impossible to do on a seven string? How would adding another string negate the ability to play six string parts?

I tune my PRS CE 22 to drop A... After I intonated it, and adjusted the action, it plays fine. I use DR strings, guage 11-50.

I just can't seem to get a decent mix. Everything seems blaaah. And please be honest..constructive criticism is the best way to learn. (And yes this is incredibly generic, but I wanted to record something easy to practice mixing.)...

I've been having issues with the midi drum editor window not syncing up with the audio tracks. It's incredibly difficult to program drums like this..Any ideas as to what's wrong?? Thanks.
