FECK. Yeah, my buddy just told me the same thing.. looks like I won't be editing drums until tomorrow. I suppose that gives me more time to study Greyskull's video.

Beat Detective Tutorial Video Part One is Here!!

I'm having trouble with the grouping and seperating.. I have the kick, snare top, and toms 1 & 2 grouped like you had, but BD isn't marking any of the transients except for the kick track in the selection, so I can't seperate the regions. I'm kind of fumbling on the terminology, but does...

50 watt amps vs 100 watt amps

DOUBLE TRUE! Solid State heads are more inefficient with their power, producing less volume.

50 watt amps vs 100 watt amps

I would say for recording purposes, lower wattage is always more desirable. At what point recording have you ever needed MORE volume on an amp? And the 50 watt JCM800 is absolutely killer IMO. Just picked up a JCM2000 for my other guitarist a few days ago for $525! See if the guy will come down...

    how do epic gang-shouts

Assigning programmable macros??? Is there a n00b term for that?

More pissed off music from the bowels of HELL.

All the cymbals in the breaks of the intro are awesome sounding! How'd you get them to come through so clean and smooth?

Time for you guys to chew me a new one! (n00b alert..)

By strange do you mean programmed samples? I suppose he could eq or compress the "overheads" but he'd probably be better using different samples entirely rather than trying to make these ones more suitable. The song is pretty cool though man! Guitar work is definitely interesting!

    how do epic gang-shouts

Well, I don't think headphones are overrated... I usually line the takes up to the grid to get them as close as possible to one another, but I haven't thought about quantizing them! Are you just using beat detective to do this, Brian?

    how do epic gang-shouts

I suppose you could if you had a REALLLLLY dead room. Otherwise you'd get a lot more room noise. The problem with too many people tracking at once is timing. When they sing off time it lessens the clarity of what they're shouting. That's why he recommends headphones for each person though...

First time with triggers...how does it sound?

It's probably just that nobody wants to download the clip. Just post an mp3 online man!

    Rawest mix ever, something different

This is sick. The snare is a little pingy and bothersome IMO, but it might be exactly what the band was looking for. Guitars sound awesome and raw as fuck. They remind me of a less obnoxious heavyheavylowlow. Very cool man!

    New Mix! Need Input!!!

I'll definitely adjust the EQ and see how it comes out. I tried giving the guitars a little more low end before and it wasn't working with the bass or drum tones. The kick started to disappear whenever I did. Maybe I can just ease up on the highs and gain and see what happens.. Thanks for the...

please give me some feedback on mix of my little metal clip

It's always better to EQ something before throwing tons of volume at it IMO. They're not cutting through or complimenting the guitars or bass so volume won't help that much. I would tweak the EQ on the bass too. Give it a little more punch..

short clip of new song idea (non Metal)

Haha! This is actually really sweet! The guitar tone is hilariously good. Kind of Framptonish.. You need a big deep snare with TONS of reverb for ballads though!
