    T.J. Helmerich 8 finger tapping

You haven't heard of Stanley Jordan then? His first record came out in the early 80's. Here's a video of a gig from 1990. Mr. Sister hinted it already, guess why Tony Levin's nice instrument of choice is called a 'Chapman'- stick? ;)

Chris Broderick Pick Clip thread - post your thoughts here!

mine arrived last week... I spent just some hours with it and played my first show yesterday. they felt a bit slippery underneath and between songs and breaks I was forced to readjust a bit. maybe due to sweat... other than that it works pretty good. we had a short set list of rather slow proggy...

5 finger picking - using your pinky

thanks for the quick reply on this. the pieces however don't seem to necessarily need the pinky, do they? I think the problem is, the angle of that finger is different from the others, perhabs that is the reason I also find the tone not too convincing. interestingly enough by playing the piano...

5 finger picking - using your pinky

thanks, I will read it and send it to my teacher as well! please show me the Mondschein Sonate tabs, you mentioned. I do have the piano notation myself, though. in some parts of Prélude No. 1 by Villa- Lobos these things are solved by simultaneously playing 2 notes with the thump, or a rapid...

    question about lessons

I have to sort of disagree here. From my POV: Taking lessons will always be good to learn about proper technique, musicality and musical traditions, to get feedback and being stopped when your practise becomes stuck in a dead end street . If you have a good teacher, you'll also get inside...

solo of guitar how the story ends

just answer the questions: have you ever played a concert? if so, did you never made a single mistake? I highly doubt, that some one can play everything perfect all the time! and what is the point anyway? might be it is not played perfect, so what? is it worth a post on his forum?

Singing and Playing at the same time

just try and start to do so! when I started to learn this, I searched for too long to find some tips on this, but I did not make any progress. just as soon as I tackled it ;) try easy things at first, count with your foot and don't worry about intonation and timing too much. for instance...

PICK CLIP I NEED ONE SOOOO BAD! I would love to purchase one some how!!!!

thanks for the advice, but I think I do not need much time. the first time I ever tried thumb picks was last year. Chris showed me his clip at the Musik Messe and I had it on with my pick. felt great. I ordered 3 different ones from various shops in different countries. they all are nothing near...
