What exactly has you dissatisfied with the RG? Might help better guide you. EDIT: Have you tried different string gauges? Also, perhaps you should try a slightly lower output passive pickup. You might find it to be a bit tighter.

It's not a genre that's popular in African-American circles. Why are there so few prevalent white rappers? Or R&B singers? It's cultural to a degree, I think. In college I was literally told... "I didn't think black hands could do that." And yes I went to college in the new millenium haha.

Practice etudes that will help you build endurance in your playing. Endurance will also play a key role in helping to increase speed. Something you might want to try is to set the mentronome at a speed you find comfortable and just force yourself to practice scale runs over and over and over...
