Any band suggestions for my current need in music?

I'd recommend Swallow the Sun. They're rather melodic and not too down tempo. From Katatonia I'd get Brave Murder Day, which features one Mikael Åkerfeldt. If you want a more cleaner and wider approach - in terms of both vocals and overall sound - I'd go for Viva Emptiness. Those albums...

    growls low in the mix

In my opinion, Watershed sounds a lot more dynamic than the previous albums - both in terms of compositions and sound production. You can discern the instruments better than before and yet there's enough space to make the album sound massive. I don't really understand how some people here...

Opeth is playing tonight in Ankkarock, FINLAND!!

Finns feel bitterness towards the Swedish, because the Swedes don't have to live next to Russia* :D But seriously, the thing is, even though only about 5% of Finns speak Swedish as their mother tongue, EVERYONE has to learn it at school...to some degree at least. I don't really understand...

How Many Records Have Opeth Sold To Date?

I think it's safe to say that, at any rate, the next album will make Opeth break the one million copy limit.

    The Apples

Whoah! This band rocks! This is the jazzy / funky stuff I've been looking for. Previously, I've only really liked (metal) fusion jazz and some Tower of Power stuff, but this band has the right edge, groove, melody and tempo for my taste. I wonder if the RATM cover is available just on vinyl, I'd...

    Setlist in Ruisrock?

Mikael appeared to be in perfect health. He still had few fading chickenpox lesions, but you couldn't really see them even in the front row. The gig itself was solid and no-nonsense, and the band played 2 or 3 songs virtually without any break letting the music speak for itself. Then Mikael...

    Mike's chicken pox

It was a quite surreal experience - for most of the audience and probably for the band as well. Opeth played on a stage situated on a beach  (they'll play on the same stage this year, too). Opeth obviously played tight, but the contrast between the music and the gig setting was huge. On...
