same here, i agree. i sometimes record vocals handheld with dynamics while music is playing out of the speakers and get great results. what matters is the performance and first of all that's what you have to try to get perfect although i generally prefer using LDCs for vocals, even cheap ones...

definitely don't get a dynamic microphone. Studio Projects B1, Behringer B2 or Audio-Technica AT2020 would work for you.

yeah it's pretty simple. if you want you can bypass anything and solder the bridge pickup to the output also. and of course there will be no signal improvement as the cables are very short.

a friend of mine who writes acoustic songs arround piano and acoustic guitar asked me to record some of his stuff. there will also be some light percussion and ambient sounds. i haven't really recorded (or listened) to such songs so i was wondering if you know any good albums for reference.

Absolutely nothing actually. If you want to have a "Gibson" then you just pay for the brand name. And that actually works for them so why not? haha. You can find great LP style guitars for $400. I've recorded so many great sounding tracks with just what the band had. Some muffling, intonation...
