    My fake SM57

Same here, I checked my 57 last night and it is exactly the same as yours, I bought it new from a reputable shop in London though so I'm assuming it isn't fake. Pretty sure I have a fake 58 though, haven't noticed a huge difference in sound (I've only ever used it at practise) but it seems to...

How should I connect this head to this cab?

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I get it, this video seems to show what I need to do to wire the cab in series parallel in order to get a single 16ohm input?

How should I connect this head to this cab?

So my mate has just bought a Blackstar HT-50 and was hoping to use it with his cab from his old line 6 setup, I don't have much experience with valve amps and we don't want to risk damaging the amp by messing around without knowing exactly what we are doing! so can anyone here advise us if it is...

How to get a huge guitar sound without double tracking?

I think I get what you mean, I would say the problem is a different riff on each side, It always seems to make mixes sound lopsided and incohesive (to me anyway), personally I would take the riff that is the more rhythmic of the two and use that as the rhythm guitar track, pan a different take...

How to get this epic swoosh sound?

I agree with RichS and Sethis, sounds like a timpani roll to me, which DAW are you using? I know Logic has timpani rolls under its orchestral instruments, don't remember them sounding that amazing but you could probably manipulate them to get a similar effect.

What are some of the most stupid things you've heard "engineers" say?

"When you're micing a kit, turn the gains up a tiny bit JUST until you hear the signals, then push all the faders up to max to boost the level, that way you won't get any bleed from the other drums" not long after this the guy dropped out of uni...

    Clipping on the master

Try automating the ITP down (on FG-X) on the parts which are clipping: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/9476585-post19.html Also, http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/9769838-post168.html You shouldn't need the two gclips with fg-x as well to get the volume you want, fg-x is more than capable...

First time messing with FX delays etc

That's awesome, bookmarked it! Thanks dude!

First time messing with FX delays etc

What bpm have you got the session set to btw? I make it 150bpm, I can see what you mean about the full note delays, they would work well at the end of each phrase, or half note delays would work just as well with the feedback set a bit higher to get a few more delays outta it, where are you...

First time messing with FX delays etc

I've gotta say I've never used full note delays before, I guess it depends the bpm you chose to record the song in. If you recorded it with double the actual tempo of the song, for example in 240bpm instead of the original tempo of 120bpm, because you wanted to hear the click play 8th notes...

First time messing with FX delays etc

Just a thought, using this method it would be possible to use just one delay on the vox as you would anyway (well I would) for the normal parts, then when it comes to an end of a phrase you want to be full notes you could just automate Echoboy's tempo or echo time to change the delays to full...

First time messing with FX delays etc

Just been playing around with it, seem to have come up with a work around! Unlink the Echoboy's tempo from the session's tempo, then change it to exactly half of what it was, now the 1/2 note delays will be the equivalent to full note delays in the original tempo of your song! Hope that helps dude!

First time messing with FX delays etc

Was the delay effect set to 100% wet? Sounds like it might not have been, so every time you un-mute the delay some dry signal would be sent through the delay channel making the vox suddenly louder? That's the first thing I would check anyway!
