I'm using an orange PPC for the last 10 years or so to record my stuff. Try pulling the mic back a ft or so and it really opens up :).

Here's a new song from my band that I've did the recording, mixing and mastering on. It's going straight to vinyl so it has quite a lot of dynamic range. Natural drums, Orange OR120 / London City DEA 120 and Laney Klipp on the guitars Bass is an Ampeg V4b through a Mesa 4x10 cab.
