As far as similarities to Opeth go, check out a band called Fall of the Leafe. Very good, but could almost be considered a rip off. That's my opinion, anyway :)

There is a band here (the US) called Songs: Ohia and they are incredible. Basically, it's just a guy, an acoustic guitar, and a lot of emotion. I would definately recommend it for all fans of Nick Drake or Jeff Buckley! The website for the record label is www.secretlycanadian.com
