    DSBM Track Huge Trackcount

I played session Guitar on this and did the Mix/Master. Really a lot of elements in there and huge amounts of automation going on. The drumtracks were delivered fairly horrible so i had to replace everything except the overheads. To make things worse they compressed the overheads on the way in...

So what if robots played "real" music with "real" instruments (squarepusher)

It sounds more human than most quantized to hell and back metal records but especially in this jazzfusion context where improvisation and live recording is still quite common it sounds very robotic to my ears. (tbh i have no idea what genere exactly squarepusher is trying to resemble)

So what if robots played "real" music with "real" instruments (squarepusher)

still sounds pretty robotic to me. The point of mr. pusher was to show that the human hand does not have a significant impact in the ability of people to enjoy music (as if the EDM trend has not proven this already) and his end results are pretty robotic too. i expect a long and furious...

Automatic gate goes against the beat?

i switched to a gate with lookahead and took of most of the compression, less is really more. the beat is still not as fluid feeling as i'd like to but its way better now. edit: are there any rules-of-thumb on determining if a certain processing tool is beneficial or bad to the groove except...

Automatic gate goes against the beat?

I am struggling with a recent drum mix: when i use gates and heavy compression, the beat seems to flow less and lack drive. Could this be due to the gate chopping off the earliest transient and thus the hits seem late to the ear? When i take off all processing the beat flows better and has...

Waves ADT: finally I don't have to struggle anymore with shitty musicians....

i put a LFO on the vacuumsound delay time and i ended up with a lot of crackles as the plugin is not suited to changing the value over time. i think the waves could be worth the 99$ for the convenience

Trying to get that TAIM - Hate sound

The hate sound is all about midrange saturation, maybe try a multiband saturator or something else to really get the mids cranked, your mix sounds too soft and pillowy to get that hate thing going.

    vst2 vs vst3

My bad... i just checked my plugin folder again, i thought i had only installed the vst3 version of the virtual bus compressors but there were vst2 versions too, so... seems like vst3 is not supported by reaper.

Practice Time05 - KSE The Arms of Sorrow - 23 DI files for fun

drums are not tight enough the kick is all over the place and the snare is too far down, the vocals do not glue with the rest they sit too on top of the rest. guitarlevels could be better although i like the rhytm sound, got a certain power to it. (all imho!)

Born of Osiris is giving away stems for their song "MCHINE"

I am very much with you on the percieved dissonance train between aesthetic and message. But after all... mechanically tight sounds mixed with lyrics about consciousness-elevation or some other sciency stuff are maybe the heirs of revolt-expression but definitely not their successors. For me...
